Contortion Day 1

So for my first week in Digital Sculpting Class at Gnomon we have to make a head for our creature. The theme is 'Creepy' Carnival, since our creatures can't be human. Mine is an alien Contortionist. Here are the first 2 1/2 hours of working on her.

My Thought Prosses:

I knew the theme was carnival so I knew I wanted to do a contortionist. With that thought in mind I started with a ball of digital 'clay'. Just using the move tool I squashed and stretched the ball into a head and started pulling in different directions to try to get inspired by how she may look. And make sure she looked female. I tilted her head in one direction and noticed that her face looked like a Gazelle.  I liked the idea. So with a bunch of pictures of antelope and gazelles this is where I ended up at.

Why the long neck? Well I really liked the Giraffe-Antelope with it's really long neck and I think if she had a long neck it will enhance the "contorted" look once I'm done and I get her posed.

I'm going to try to up date this every day or at least every time I make changes.
Thank you for visiting!:D
